Games – Relay Race

Items Needed

  • Space for Scouts to run back and forth
  • (Optional) A baton or small object can be passed from one runner to the next
  • (Optional) Challenges like picking up puzzle pieces or words to form a phrase during each run

Instructions

  1. Divide Scouts into two teams and have each team line up side by side.
  2. When the adult volunteer says “Go,” the first Scout from each team runs across the room and back (either tapping a point, crossing a line, or running around an object on the other side of the room), then returns to their line and tags the next Scout in line.
  3. Continue this pattern until all team members have gone across and back.
  4. The first team to have all its members complete the run wins!

Variations

  • Instead of tagging, a baton or small object can be passed from one runner to the next.
  • Scouts can hop, run backward, crawl, scoot, or hop on one leg.
  • Have Scouts go with a partner to perform a task that requires two people.
  • Add challenges like picking up puzzle pieces or words to form a phrase during their turn.
