Games – Name Toss

Items Needed

  • A ball, bean bag, stuffed animal, or other toss-able item.

Instructions

  1. Arrange the Scouts in a circle.
  2. One Scout starts by saying the name of someone else in the circle and tossing the ball to them.
  3. The receiving Scout then says the name of a different Scout and tosses the ball to someone who hasn’t received it yet.
    • Add a Challenge – the receiving Scout can say, “Thank you, [name],” after catching the ball.
  4. Continue until everyone in the circle has received the ball once.
    • Add a Challenge – they cannot throw to someone that has already been thrown to before.
  5. If the ball is dropped, the group restarts from the beginning and tries again without dropping it.

Variations

  • Time It: After completing the initial round of Name Toss, time the Scouts as they repeat the pattern and challenge them to improve their speed and efficiency with each attempt.
  • Limit Throws: Scouts are not allowed to throw to the person directly beside them or directly across from them.
