Games – Marco Polo

Fun Fact: This game is inspired by the famous Venetian explorer Marco Polo, but in the game, the name is simply used as a call-and-response. Players call out “Marco” and listen for “Polo” to locate the person designated as Marco.

Items Needed

  • None (just the group and their creativity!)

Instructions

  1. Scouts close their eyes.
  2. Pick one Scout to be “Marco.” Marco may open their eyes while all other Scouts keep theirs closed.
  3. Let everyone know who Marco is.
  4. Scouts call out “Marco,” and Marco responds with “Polo.”
  5. Scouts must WALK (not run) to find Marco. If a Scout runs, they are disqualified.
  6. Once Marco is tagged, the Scout who tagged them becomes the new Marco.
    • Optional: Scouts can crawl, hop, or slither instead of walking for added variety.
