Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Daisy Petal – Considerate and Caring badge requirements.
Items Needed:
- Small props or items to represent acts of kindness (e.g., toy dishes for “help set the table,” a broom for “help clean up”).
- A space for the relay, either indoors or outdoors.
Instructions:
- Set Up the Stations: Create stations along a relay path, each one representing an act of kindness. For example:
- Station 1: “Help set the table” (place toy dishes).
- Station 2: “Hold the door open” (use a lightweight cardboard door or a simple motion).
- Station 3: “Pick up toys” (spread out a few toys or items to pick up).
- Introduce the Relay: Explain that this relay is all about practicing ways to be kind and helpful in everyday life.
- Run the Relay: Divide scouts into teams or have them go one at a time. Each scout completes the act of kindness at one station before moving to the next.
- Discuss and Reflect: After everyone has had a turn, talk about how these small acts of kindness make a big difference. Ask scouts which stations were their favorites and if they can think of more acts of kindness to add.
