Games – Honest Egg Hunt

Fulfills Step 3 of GSUSA Daisy Petal – Honest and Fair badge requirements.

Items Needed

  • Plastic eggs in pairs or trios of matching colors (e.g., 6 colors for 12 scouts, 4 colors for 12 scouts in trios)
  • Candy to fill eggs (varying amounts per egg)
  • Space for hiding eggs

Instructions

  1. Prepare Eggs – Fill each egg with candies, varying the number per egg (e.g., 1 candy in some, 5 candies in others). Hide the eggs around the space.
  2. Egg Hunt – Scouts each search for one egg but can only take one. Once they have their egg, they may give clues to help others find theirs but cannot point directly to the eggs.
  3. Match Colors – After all scouts have an egg, they find others with the same egg color to form pairs or trios. Do not open eggs yet.
  4. Fix the Candy “Glitch” – Explain there was a glitch in the candy machine, making the candy amounts unequal. Scouts in matching color groups open their eggs, count their candies, and divide them evenly among the group.
  5. Reflect – Discuss how it felt to have fewer candies at first and how it felt to share candies equally in their group.
