Games – Hide-and-Seek

Items Needed

  • A safe area with plenty of hiding spots

Instructions

  1. Adult volunteer selects one scout to be the seeker. Ensure everyone knows the boundaries so they do not attempt to hide outside the playing area.
  2. The seeker closes their eyes and counts to 100 (or another agreed-upon number).
  3. While the seeker counts, all other scouts hide within the designated play area.
  4. Once the seeker finishes counting, they open their eyes and begin searching for the hiders.
  5. The first scout found becomes the seeker for the next round. The last scout to be found is the winner of the round. Optional Time Limit: If a time limit is set and the seeker does not find all hiders within that time, the remaining hiders are declared the winners of the round.

Variations

  • Group Hide and Seek: Divide scouts into two teams—one team hides and the other team seeks. Rotate roles after each round.
  • Safe Zone: Add a “safe zone” where hiders can run to avoid being tagged by the seeker. Once in the safe zone, they cannot be tagged.
  • Nighttime Version: Play after dark with flashlights. The seeker uses the flashlight beam to find hiders.
