Games – Froggie Detective

Items Needed

  • None (just the group and their creativity!)

Instructions

  1. Scouts sit in a circle. Pick one scout to be the “detective,” and have them leave the room or turn away so they can’t see or hear.
  2. All scouts remaining close their eyes. The adult volunteer taps one scout on the shoulder to be the “frog.” The rest of the scouts are “flies.”
  3. Scouts call the detective back into the room by saying, “Oh Froggie Detective!”
  4. The detective stands in the circle and has three chances to guess who the frog is.
  5. While the detective is deciding, the frog secretly (when the detective isn’t looking) sticks out their tongue at flies to “eliminate” them. Flies who are “eliminated” dramatically fall back, count to 10, and then sit back up.
  6. Whether the detective guesses correctly or not, the frog and detective switch roles, and a new round begins. Continue until everyone has had a turn as both the frog and the detective.

Variations

A slightly different game called Detective is similar but less silly.

  • Timed Rounds: Limit each round to a specific time to keep the game moving quickly.
  • Double Frog: Add a second frog to increase the challenge for the detective.
  • Fly Freeze: Flies remain frozen after falling back to add drama.
