Games – Evolution

Game also called Ultimate Person or Transformation

Items Needed:

  • None (just the group and their creativity!)

Scouts must be aware of the stages of evolution

  • Egg: Squatting low and waddling.
  • Chicken: Squatting while flapping elbows and putting thumbs under armpits.
  • Eagle: Standing while flapping arms by the sides.
  • Pterodactyl: Walking with arms out at shoulder height, tilting the body like soaring wings.
  • Nervous Human: Shuffling nervously while acting like a human.
  • Ultimate Person: Striking a confident pose off to the side of the group.

Instructions

  1. Scouts start in a circle. Every scout begins as an “Egg,” squatting low to the ground and waddling.
  2. “Eggs” pair up and play a game of rock-paper-scissors. The winner of each round evolves into the next stage (“Chicken”).
  3. Each evolution stage can only play against others of their kind. “Chickens” can only play “Chickens”. “Eagles” can only play “Eagles”. This is an elimination style game and someone will always be stuck at one of the evolution stages when there are no other partners.
  4. Continue playing until one scout reaches the final stage, “Ultimate Person,” until several have reached the final stage, or until the designated time has run out.

Variations

  • Backward Evolution: If a scout loses rock-paper-scissors, they move backward one stage in the evolutionary chain.
  • Team Evolution: Divide scouts into teams. Each team works together to evolve one of their members to the “Ultimate Person” stage, but they cannot play each other and must play other teams.
