Games – Caterpillar

Items Needed

  • A large, open space with enough room for scouts to lie down side by side.

Instructions

  1. Have scouts lie on their stomachs in a straight line, side by side, all facing the same direction with toes on one side and arms outstretched in front of them.
  2. The scout at the front of the line starts by rolling over the other scouts until they reach the end of the line.
  3. Once the rolling scout reaches the end, they lie down on their stomach at the back of the line.
  4. The next scout at the front of the line then begins rolling over the others.
  5. Continue this pattern until everyone has had multiple chances to roll. As the game progresses, the rolling motion will make the group look like a moving caterpillar.

Variations

  • Timed Challenge: Set a timer to see how fast the group can complete a full rotation, with every scout taking a turn at rolling.
  • Reverse Direction: Midway through the game, switch the rolling direction for an added challenge.
  • Record the Fun: Record the group in motion so the scouts can watch their caterpillar creation later.
