Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Senior Cybersecurity Basics badge requirements.
Info Needed for the badge requirements: Encapsulation: Limiting access to digital objects to keep them safe. Labels identify what can use them, who can use them, and how they can be used (similar to access codes for specific areas in a building). Least Privilege: Only as few people as necessary should have access to digital objects (e.g., letting someone use your computer as a guest instead of accessing your account).
Items Needed
- 3 packs of sticky notes in different colors.
- Pen for each pair or group of three scouts.
Instructions
- Divide scouts into pairs or groups of three. Give each group a pen and sticky notes in three different colors.
- Each group chooses one object in the room to focus on (e.g., refrigerator, backpack, drawer).
- Use Sticky Note (Color 1): Write down what objects can “use” or go along with your chosen object. For example, what items should go inside a drawer, refrigerator, or backpack?
- Privilege Sticky Note (Color 2): Write down who can use the object and who cannot. Be specific about permissions (e.g., family can use it, but strangers cannot).
- Operations Sticky Note (Color 3): Write instructions on how to use the object, including any security features (e.g., a lock or zipper).
- Each group shares their object and the sticky note labels with the troop.
- (Optional) If time allows, groups can choose another object and repeat the labeling process.
