Frame Artwork

Activity Description: Scouts frame one of their completed art pieces using either a store-bought or homemade frame.

Info Needed: Scouts should understand that sharing art helps others learn about their ideas and creativity.


Items Needed:

  • Scout’s completed artwork
  • (Option 1) Store-bought frame
  • (Option 2) Craft materials for a homemade frame:
    • Craft sticks, cardboard, or construction paper
    • Glue, tape, scissors
    • Decorating items (stickers, markers, washi tape, ribbon)

Option 1: Use a Store-Bought Frame (Estimated Time: 5 min)

  1. Open the frame and place the artwork inside (1–2 min)
    • Make sure the artwork fits and is centered.
  2. Close and secure the back (1 min)
    • Press down tabs or clips to hold the art in place.
  3. (Optional) Add a name label for the artist (1 min)
    • Use a sticker or small card with the scout’s name.
  4. Display the framed art (1 min)
    • Place it upright or flat on a gallery table or send it home.

Option 2: Build a Basic Homemade Frame (Estimated Time: 15–20 min)

  1. Choose frame materials (2–3 min)
    • Craft sticks or cardboard work great for outlining the artwork.
  2. Arrange four sides around the artwork (3–4 min)
    • Lay out the pieces to form a rectangle or square.
  3. Glue or tape the corners securely (3–4 min)
    • Let dry if needed before decorating.
  4. Decorate the frame (4–5 min)
    • Use stickers, drawings, or other craft items to personalize.
  5. Attach the artwork to the back of the frame (2–3 min)
    • Use glue or masking tape to hold the art in place.
