Eat for Energy

Activity Description: Scouts create a picture that shows how their favorite foods help them do fun, active things.

  • Fulfills Step 1 of GSUSA Me Time badge requirements.

Info Needed: Scouts learn that food gives their bodies energy for play and movement. They create a picture that connects favorite foods to the fun things they love to do.


Items Needed:

  • Eat for Energy by GSUSA
  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Coloring supplies
  • Child-safe scissors
  • Glue or tape

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20 min):

  1. Draw an Activity That Uses Energy (5–6 min)
    • Scout draws a picture of themselves doing something fun and active (running, climbing, dancing, etc.) on a blank piece of paper.
  2. Color and Cut Foods (7–8 min)
    • Scout colors the foods on the Eat for Energy handout.
    • They can also draw foods in the blank circles.
    • Then cut out the food circles they like best.
  3. Add and Reflect (6–7 min)
    • Scout glues or tapes the food circles around their activity picture.
    • As they work, they think about how food helps their body move and have fun.
    • Optional: hang the picture at home as a reminder that eating fuels energy.
