Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Brownie Cybersecurity Basics badge requirements.
Items Needed
- Plain or graph paper (larger than 8.5 x 11 is great if available)
- Markers, Pens, or Pencils
Instructions
- Explain that security often uses multiple layers, just like dressing in layers to stay warm. Ask scouts for other examples of layering, such as blankets to stay warm or layers in a cake for different flavors. (See Layers of Security for more details)
- Challenge the scouts to draw a castle on their paper and add creative layers of security to protect it. Examples: tall walls, a moat, traps, or hidden entrances.
- Scouts share their castle designs with the group, explaining their layers of security.
- Talk about how digital devices also use layers of security, such as usernames, passwords, or fingerprints, to keep them safe.
