Costume Character

Info Needed for badge requirements: Everyone is unique because of their talents, interests, and physical traits. For example, fingerprints are one of a kind, just like the way people smile, the things they love to do, or how they see the world.

Items needed

  • Simple costume items for scouts to dress up and create a character (e.g., fake mustache, hat, eye patch, sunglasses, scarf, wig).

Instructions

  1. Welcome scouts and invite them to pick a costume item to wear and pretend to be someone else.
  2. Ask scouts to create a pretend character using the costume item they chose. They can make up details like:
    • The character’s name.
    • Where the character lives.
    • What the character likes to do.
  3. After all scouts have created their pretend characters, encourage them to share about their characters with the group.
  4. Explain how their pretend characters have unique identities. Share that identity is made up of information that makes each person different, like their name or birthday.
