Color Wheel Hunt

Activity Description: Scouts explore the color wheel and use real-world colors to inspire a creative drawing.

  • Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Brownie Art and Design badge requirements
  • Can fulfill Step 3 of GSUSA Junior Art and Design badge requirements, but it is recommended Juniors explore Hue and Saturation in addition to the basic Color Wheel.

Info Needed: Different colors can show different feelings, like happy, sad, or calm. Colors also help us see and understand what things are, like a green tree or a blue sky. Using colors in art helps make the pictures more interesting and tells a story.

Items Needed:

  • One piece of paper per scout
  • Markers, crayons, or colored pencils (any commonly used troop medium)
  • Printout of Color Wheel Hunt
  • (Optional) Clipboards or hard surfaces if doing the color hunt outdoors
