Fulfills Step 5 of GSUSA Junior Practice with Purpose badge requirements.

Info Needed for Badge Requirements:
Scouts create and follow a personal practice routine for one month that includes endurance, strength, and skill drills. Each part should be completed at least twice a week, in any order or combination that works best. After one month, scouts choose one way to reflect and share their progress.


Items Needed:

  • Guest coach or instructor
  • Paper (one sheet per scout)
  • Pens or pencils
  • Comfortable clothes for movement
  • Open space (optional for movement demonstrations)

Instructions (Total Estimated Time: 30–35 minutes):

  1. Personal Reflection & Quick Prep (4–5 minutes)
    • Scouts write down:
      • One part of their routine that worked well
      • One part that was challenging
      • One question they’d like to ask the coach
      • Optional: one movement they’d like to briefly demonstrate
  2. Group Discussion with Coach (18–25 minutes)
    • Scouts gather together and take turns sharing one highlight or question, and their optional move demo. Each scout only has one minute to present.
    • The coach gives brief feedback or suggestions for each scout.
    • Scouts listen to each other and may write down helpful advice.
  3. Wrap-Up Reflection (2–3 minutes)
    • Scouts write down one useful tip they received from the coach.
    • (Optional) set a mini goal to continue their next practice week or month
