Other options could be:
- Friendship circle or squeeze.
- Scout shout or cheer.
- Singing a goodbye song.
- Troop announcements for the next meeting or event.
- Sharing parting thoughts or gratitude.
- Collecting goodbyes or positive moments.
Optional Closing Routines for Scout Meetings
Reflect on the Day
Have scouts share what they learned, enjoyed, or accomplished during the meeting. This encourages self-reflection and gratitude.
Friendship Circle or Squeeze
Gather scouts in a circle, holding hands. Pass a gentle hand squeeze around the circle to symbolize unity and friendship.
Goodbye Song
End with a cheerful or traditional goodbye song that resonates with the troop’s spirit.
Scout Shout or Cheer
Close with a group cheer or shout for the troop to end on an energized and celebratory note.
Next Meeting Announcements
Share quick reminders or updates about the next meeting, activity, or event to keep scouts informed.
Positive Goodbye Moments
Allow scouts to share something positive or kind as parting words. This helps end the meeting on a heartwarming note.
Customization Tips
- Choose routines that align with the tone of your meeting (calm or energized).
- Keep the closing routines brief to ensure a smooth transition.
- Rotate leadership roles to allow scouts to take turns leading closing activities like the friendship circle or cheer.
