Instructions (Total Time: 35 minutes):
- Make an Exit Plan (8–10 minutes)
- Pretend the meeting space is a cabin
- Scouts discuss safe ways to leave a building (door, window if needed)
- Practice a calm and safe exit using the nearest door
- Choose a Meeting Spot (8–10 minutes)
- Scouts look for a spot near the “cabin” where everyone can gather safely
- They agree on a meeting place, such as the nearest tree or signpost
- Practice Contacting Help (8–10 minutes)
- Scouts learn to call 911 in case of emergency
- Practice a pretend call where scouts say:
- Their name
- Their location
- What type of emergency it is
- If anyone is hurt or needs help
- Put It All Together (6–7 minutes)
- Scouts walk through the full fire plan: exit, meet, and contact help
- Reflect on what they learned and why making a plan helps keep people safe
