Fulfills Step 4 of GSUSA Cabin Camper badge requirements.

Items Needed:

  • None

Instructions (Total Time: 35 minutes):

  1. Make an Exit Plan (8–10 minutes)
    • Pretend the meeting space is a cabin
    • Scouts discuss safe ways to leave a building (door, window if needed)
    • Practice a calm and safe exit using the nearest door
  2. Choose a Meeting Spot (8–10 minutes)
    • Scouts look for a spot near the “cabin” where everyone can gather safely
    • They agree on a meeting place, such as the nearest tree or signpost
  3. Practice Contacting Help (8–10 minutes)
    • Scouts learn to call 911 in case of emergency
    • Practice a pretend call where scouts say:
      • Their name
      • Their location
      • What type of emergency it is
      • If anyone is hurt or needs help
  4. Put It All Together (6–7 minutes)
    • Scouts walk through the full fire plan: exit, meet, and contact help
    • Reflect on what they learned and why making a plan helps keep people safe
