Camp Bridging

Fulfills Step 5 of GSUSA Cabin Camper badge requirements.

Items Needed:

  • One bridging award kit per scout who is transitioning (May include certificate, Brownie Wings, bridging patch, Membership Star pin, and/or award)
  • (Optional) decorations or music for outdoor ceremony
  • (Optional) paper and pencil for scouts to write a memory or future goal

Instructions (Total Time: 10–40 minutes prep time & 40–50 minutes ceremony time):

  1. Set Up for the Ceremony (10–40 minutes)
    • Pick or create a Bridging Ceremony
    • Choose a special outdoor spot for the ceremony
    • Prepare any decorations or seating if desired
    • Leaders organize kits for scouts who are bridging
  2. Hold the Bridging Ceremony (20–25 minutes)
    • Scouts gather together at the location
    • Perform the Bridging Ceremony
    • Each scout who is transitioning receives their items from the kit
    • Encourage clapping and celebrating each scout
  3. Share Memories and Goals (15–18 minutes)
    • Scouts talk about something fun or meaningful they remember from their current level experience
    • Scouts bridging to the next level can share what they’re excited to do next
  4. Wrap Up and Celebrate (5–6 minutes)
    • Thank all scouts for making the event special
    • (Optional) snack, song, or group photo to end the ceremony
