Instructions (Estimated Time: 20 minutes):
- Set the Scene (3 minutes)
- Scouts imagine planning a fun day outside with a group of 12 total scouts. They have $30 pretend dollars to spend. The goal is to plan a great outdoor day without going over budget.
- Choose Activities (2–3 minutes)
- Scouts pick one main activity like:
- Picnic
- Backyard obstacle course
- Planting flowers
- Flying kites
- Nature scavenger hunt

- Use the Pretend Price List (5–7 minutes)
- Scouts look at a simple price list and choose items their activity needs.
- They write or draw each item and its cost. Then they add up their total.
- Check Their Budget (2 minutes)
- If their total is $30 or less, great!
- If they go over, they decide what to remove or swap.
- Reflect or Share (5 minutes)
- Scouts can turn and share with a buddy or draw a picture of their outdoor fun.
- Ask: What was the most expensive item? Did they have to make a choice?
