WARNING – From a former GSUSA council staff: This ceremony was retired for cause. Please be respectful of our Jewish families. Even if you do not have any Jewish members in your troop, everyone has friends, family and colleagues, and we should strive to not hurt them.

This is for a ceremony only. It does not meet the Rainbow Bridging badge requirements. Troops should earn their Rainbow Bridging badge at a troop meeting prior to this ceremony, where they are awarded their Rainbow Bridge badge.
Items Needed:
- A large cardboard “oven” (decorated box with flap, curtain, or tunnel opening)
- Daisy tunics and Brownie vests or sashes
- Brownie pins and bridging certificates
- Optional: wooden spoon (as a “magic wand”), oven mitts, chef hats, or fun sound effects
- A symbolic bridge or pathway (optional after the oven)
Before the Ceremony:
- Decorate and assemble the oven, ensuring it has a Daisy-side entrance and Brownie-side exit
- Ensure each girl’s new Brownie vest or sash is ready on the far side of the oven
- Rehearse with girls how to enter as a Daisy and emerge as a Brownie (assistants or co-leaders may be stationed inside)
- Prepare leaders or troop helpers with their parts and review the script
Formation:
- Daisy Girl Scouts line up on one side of the oven, wearing their Daisy tunics
- Co-leader(s) stand on both sides of the oven to help with transitions
- One co-leader or “kitchen helper” stands near the oven with a “magic spoon” for added flair
- On the other side of the oven, Brownie troop members or co-leader greeters stand ready with new vests, pins, and certificates
Instructions:
- Leader: “Welcome, families and friends! Today we celebrate a magical moment—when our Daisies cross over into the next stage of their Girl Scout journey to become Brownies. In this ceremony, we’ll blend courage, kindness, and a dash of Girl Scout spirit to create something truly special. Let’s begin with the Girl Scout Promise and Law.”
- All Together: Recite the Girl Scout Promise and Law as a group.
- Leader: “In true Brownie tradition, we invite our Daisies to step through the Magic Brownie Oven—an enchanted space warmed by years of Girl Scout sisterhood. Inside, a transformation awaits!”
- Co-Leader (with wooden spoon, in chef-style flair): “This oven has been preheated with teamwork, dusted with giggles, and filled with Girl Scout dreams. Who’s ready to rise to their next adventure?”
- One by one, each Daisy steps into the oven. Behind the scenes, an assistant helps her switch into her Brownie vest or sash or there is a Brownie vest or sash inside the oven and the scout must make the change quickly before she comes out.
- She then emerges on the other side, where a leader or older Girl Scout awaits.
- Leader on Brownie Side (to each girl individually): “(Name), are you ready to live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law and take on the adventures of being a Brownie Girl Scout?”
- Scout: “I am!”
- Leader: “Welcome to the world of Brownie Girl Scouts. I present you with your pin and bridging certificate—wear them with pride!”
- Assist with pinning and give her the certificate. The new Brownie then joins the Brownie Ring.
- Repeat this process until all Daisies have transitioned.
- Closing:
- After all girls have bridged, form a Friendship Circle with the new Brownies, leaders, and any assisting troop.
- Sing “Make New Friends” or the “Brownie Smile Song” as a joyful closing.
- Leader: “To our newest Brownie Girl Scouts: May you continue your journey with wonder, friendship, and the courage to try new things. We’re proud of you!”
