Bridging to Adult Girl Scout Ceremony

Honoring Longevity:
The Service Unit or Community should be incorporated as a special segment to recognize high school seniors who have dedicated 13 years to Girl Scouts. This is a meaningful way to celebrate their journey, even if they did not earn the Gold Award. A list of eligible scouts is gathered ahead of time to ensure no one is overlooked, including those in small troops or Juliettes.

  1. Personal Displays:
    • Each graduating senior sets up a table showcasing her Girl Scout journey, including uniforms, photos, and memorabilia. This provides a nostalgic look back and inspires younger scouts.
  2. Program Details:
    • A program is distributed, including a paragraph about each graduating senior. Information is gathered in advance to share their unique stories and accomplishments.
  3. Flag Ceremony:
    • The event begins with a Flag Ceremony led by younger scouts, such as Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. This highlights the continuity and connection across all Girl Scout levels.
    • “To begin our special event, we will have a Flag Ceremony led by our younger Girl Scouts. The Flag Ceremony is more than just a tradition—it symbolizes the values and unity of Girl Scouts across all levels. By participating, Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors honor the legacy and continuity of Girl Scouting, connecting generations of girls and young women committed to making the world a better place. As we watch them proudly carry the flags, let it remind us of the strength of our sisterhood and the shared commitment to service, community, and leadership that binds us together. Now, let’s welcome them as they lead us in this important tradition.”
  4. Words of Reflection:
    • Each senior and her leader (or parent/guardian) shares a few words about the journey. This moment is often emotional, filled with pride and gratitude.
    • This will be unique for each scout and done by the parent/guardian.
  5. Recognition:
    • Each scout is presented with a 13-Year Girl Scout patch in recognition of their dedication. They are also awarded their Adult pins to mark the transition to the next phase of Girl Scouts.
    • “It is my honor to present this 13-Year Girl Scout patch to recognize your incredible dedication and commitment to Girl Scouts. Staying with this organization from kindergarten through 12th grade is an achievement that reflects your perseverance, growth, and unwavering spirit. Congratulations on this milestone—you inspire us all!”
    • (Optional) Younger scouts present flowers to the graduating scouts as a gesture of admiration and support.

Celebration and Closing:
The ceremony concludes with light refreshments and an opportunity for attendees to mingle, reminisce, and congratulate the honorees. The event is both reflective and inspiring, leaving everyone with a sense of achievement and community.
