Info Needed: Scouts should understand that being authentic means showing their real selves and celebrating what makes them unique. Scouts will imagine their own business or brand that promotes body appreciation, not unrealistic beauty standards.
Items Needed:
- VTK Promote Body Appreciation by GSUSA (one per scout).
- Paper, pencils, and pens.
- (Optional) Computers, tablets, or phones for looking up entrepreneurs or brand examples.
- (Optional) Magazines or printed images for visual inspiration or mockups.
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 25–30 min):
- Explore body-positive business examples (5–7 min).
- Scouts read or look at one example of a company, entrepreneur, or influencer who promotes body appreciation or diversity.
- (Optional) Let them choose someone they admire and find one quote or style detail that stands out.
- Brainstorm their own company or campaign (10–12 min).
- Scouts imagine they are creating a business or brand that celebrates bodies and confidence.
- They decide what their brand would do or sell (e.g. clothes, messages, events, zines).
- They come up with a slogan, hashtags, and describe how their brand would show body positivity.
- Complete the Promote Body Appreciation worksheet (7–8 min).
- Scouts fill in their brand name, goal, slogan, hashtags, products or services, and target audience.
- (Optional) Include sketches, mock ads, or packaging ideas.
- Share and reflect (3–5 min).
- (Optional) Scouts can share their favorite part of their brand idea with a buddy or small group.
- Reflect on how it feels to imagine a company that supports people being their authentic selves.
