Bird Feeders – Peanut Wooden Wire Tower

Items Needed

  • 2-foot 1×6 board
  • 12×18-inch hardware cloth (1/4-inch squares)
  • 36-inch chain
  • Screw eye
  • Netting staples
  • Carpenter’s glue or deck screws
  • Saw
  • Wire cutter
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Unsalted peanuts (in the shell)

Instructions

  1. Cut four disks—two large (4-3/4 inches) and two small (3 inches). Glue or screw one small disk to each large disk to make the top and base. Let dry.
  2. Attach one end of the chain to a screw eye. Drill a hole in the center of the base and screw in the eye.
  3. Wrap the hardware cloth into a cylinder, trimming the edges for tabs. Attach it to the base with staples, and secure the ends by bending tabs with pliers.
  4. Spot solder the seam (optional) for extra hold.
  5. Loop the chain for hanging or use an “S” hook. Slide the top along the chain and fill the cylinder with peanuts.
  6. Hang the feeder and enjoy watching the birds!
