Items Needed
- Scrap 2 x 4 (13 inches long)
- 1-inch x 8-inch board (12 inches long)
- 1/4-inch dowel (18 inches long)
- 2-1/2-inch finishing nails (4)
- Common nails (4)
- Strong carpenter’s glue
- Screw eye (for hanging)
- Table saw
- Power drill
- Birdseed
- Oranges
Instructions
- Cut the 2 x 4 into a 13-inch piece with a peak at one end and “dog-ear” the bottom corners. Drill two holes in the board for perches.
- Cut two roof pieces from the 1 x 8 board and nail them to the peak of the 2 x 4, overlapping them.
- Hammer two nails into each side of the 2 x 4, angled downward, to hold oranges.
- Cut the dowel in half, insert into the drilled holes as perches, and secure with glue.
- Attach a screw eye at the top for hanging.
- Hang the feeder outdoors, spear oranges on the nails, and add birdseed.
