Big Small Movement Scavenger Hunt

Activity Description: Scouts go on a scavenger hunt where movement and senses work together.

  • Fulfills Step 3 of GSUSA Daisy Fun With Movement badge requirements.
  • Fulfills Step 4 of GSUSA Brownie Me Time badge requirements.

Info Needed for Fun With Movement: Scouts practice using their full bodies and/or fine motor skills. They try playful movement challenges.

Info Needed for Me Time: Scouts explore how their bodies help them move, observe, and learn.


Items Needed:

  • Pen or pencil
  • Scavenger Hunt checklist (one per scout or scout group)
  • Open space to move safely

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–30 min):

  1. Review the checklist (3–6 min)
    • Scout looks over each item on the checklist and gets ready to move.
    • Leader highlights safety and staying in the designated indoor space.
  2. Complete the movement tasks (12–17 min)
    • Scout works independently, with a partner, or in small groups to complete each listed item.
    • After each task, scout marks if the movement felt big or small.
  3. Reflect on movement and senses (5–7 min)
    • Scouts name which task was their favorite and whether it used big or small movement.
    • Discuss which senses (touch, sight, smell, hearing) were used most. Encourage scouts to notice how their body helped them explore, feel, and learn.
