Big Small Movement List

Activity Description: Scouts use a worksheet to decide if each movement is big or small and name the body parts used.

Fulfills Step 3 of GSUSA Daisy Fun With Movement badge requirements.

Info Needed: Scouts practice using their full bodies and/or fine motor skills. They discover how their body moves through playful big and small actions they can do on their own.


Items Needed:

  • Printed Move Big, Move Small worksheet (See below)
  • Pencil or crayon
  • Open space to move safely
  • (Optional) Clipboard or hard surface for writing
  • (Optional) Visual aids or demonstration from leader

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 30 min):

  1. Introduce the worksheet and explain that scouts will try different movements and decide if they are big or small (5 min)
    • Show the worksheet and explain how to mark each movement
    • (Optional) Demonstrate one big and one small movement
  2. Try each movement together as a group (15 min)
    • Read each movement aloud and let scouts act it out
    • Ask scouts to decide if it’s a big or small movement
    • Help scouts name the body part(s) used
    • (Optional) Let scouts take turns choosing a movement from the list
  3. Complete the worksheet (7 min)
    • Scouts mark each movement as big or small
    • Scouts write or draw the body part(s) used
    • (Optional) Assist scouts with writing or spelling as needed
  4. Reflect on the activity (3 min)
    • Ask scouts which movements were their favorites
    • Ask which movements felt silly, strong, or tricky
    • (Optional) Let scouts share one movement they want to try again at home
