Items Needed:
- Small paintbrush or crayon
- Cardboard, foam, or plastic pieces (for building the device)
- Rubber bands or Velcro straps
- Tape or glue
- Scissors
- Optional: String, pipe cleaners, or other craft materials
Mix in some un-needed supplies as well to up the challenge.
Instructions:
- Understand the Goal: Design a device to help someone hold and use a paintbrush or crayon if they have difficulty gripping.
- Brainstorm Ideas: Think of different ways to make the device easy to use and attach to a hand or wrist.
- Build the Device: Use the materials to create your design. Make sure it securely holds the paintbrush or crayon.
- Test It: Try using the device to see if it works as intended.
- Improve the Design: Make changes to fix any problems or make the device better.
- Share Your Work: Show your device to others and explain how it works.

These Step-by-Step instructions are more for the leaders to understand what others have done. Leaders can use the knowledge to provide hints when scouts might get stuck during the creative process.
