Art Show and Tell

Activity Description: Scouts take turns showing and talking about a piece of artwork they created.

  • Fulfills Step 5 of GSUSA Brownie Art and Design badge requirements.
  • Fulfills Step 5 of GSUSA Junior Art and Design badge requirements.

Info Needed: Scouts should understand that sharing art helps others learn about their ideas and creativity.


Items Needed:

  • Scout’s completed artwork
  • (Optional) A designated space to gather (circle, chairs, or small stage area)
  • (Optional) Name cards or “artist labels” for each piece
  • (Optional) A timer to help keep turns brief

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–20 min):

  1. Set Up the Space (3–5 min)
    • Create a comfortable area where scouts can show their artwork to the group or families.
    • Arrange seating or a standing space that works for your group size.
  2. Take Turns Sharing (10–12 min)
    • Each scout shows one piece of their artwork and tells the group a little about it.
    • Try to keep it to a minute or less for each scout.
    • They may choose to explain what they made, what inspired them, or how they created it.
  3. Wrap-Up and Celebrate (2–3 min)
    • After all scouts have shared, thank them for participating.
    • Invite families to take one last look at the art if they’re present.
