Animal Yoga

Activity Description: Scouts stretch and pose like animals to explore how animals move and rest.

Info Needed: Explore how animals move, hide, and behave by mimicking their actions or observing how they blend into their surroundings.


Items Needed:

  • Yoga mat or towel for each scout
  • (Optional) Animal yoga cards or printouts
  • (Optional) Open space for movement

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15 min):

  1. Choose a version of animal yoga that fits your group. (2 min)
  2. Explain that scouts will try yoga poses inspired by animals. (2 min)
    • Mention that animals stretch, crouch, balance, and rest in different ways.
    • (Optional) Show a few examples using cards or images.
  3. Guide scouts through several animal poses. (8 min)
    • Encourage scouts to hold each pose and notice how it feels.
    • Use cards or call out animals for scouts to mimic.
  4. End with a short reflection. (3 min)
    • Ask scouts which animal pose was their favorite.
    • Talk briefly about how animals use their bodies in nature.
