Info Needed: Celebrate how each person is one-of-a-kind while exploring the ways we’re all connected. They create a personalized collage that celebrates what makes them unique while noticing ways they are similar to others.
Items Needed:
- Posterboard (one per scout)
- Catalogs, magazines, and printed materials for cutting
- Scissors
- Glue
- Art supplies (markers, stickers, etc.)
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–30 minutes):
- Cut Out Images and Words (8–10 minutes)
- Scouts look through magazines or printed materials to find images or words that remind them of themselves.
- They cut out pieces that reflect things they enjoy, their personality, interests, or strengths.
- Build a Personal Collage (10–12 minutes)
- Scouts glue their chosen pieces to their posterboard to create an “All About Me” collage.
- (Optional) Add doodles, stickers, or drawings that show who they are inside and out.
- Encourage variety: favorite colors, kind words, activities, pets, family, strengths.
- Share and Celebrate Differences (5–8 minutes)
- Scouts may choose to share their collage with the group or display it in the room.
- Notice what’s different and what’s similar across collages.
- Remind scouts that being unique is something to be proud of—and everyone belongs.
