Formed

Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys was officially formed on October 1, 2007. It was created as part of a national realignment by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) to consolidate smaller councils into larger, high-capacity organizations.

River Valleys was formed by the merger of five legacy councils:

  1. Girl Scout Council of Cannon Valley (based in Northfield, established April 25, 1958, zip code 55057 now in River Valley’s jurisdiction per GSUSA’s Council Finder)
  2. Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis (based in Brooklyn Center, currently has River Valleys Brooklyn Center Service Center)
  3. Girl Scout Council of River Trails (based in Rochester, currently has River Valley’s Edith Mayo Program Center)
  4. Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley (based in St. Paul, currently the headquarters of River Valley)
  5. Girl Scouts Peacepipe Council (based in Redwood Falls, zip code 56283 now in River Valley’s jurisdiction per GSUSA’s Council Finder)
