Formed
Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys was officially formed on October 1, 2007. It was created as part of a national realignment by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) to consolidate smaller councils into larger, high-capacity organizations.
River Valleys was formed by the merger of five legacy councils:
- Girl Scout Council of Cannon Valley (based in Northfield, established April 25, 1958, zip code 55057 now in River Valley’s jurisdiction per GSUSA’s Council Finder)
- Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis (based in Brooklyn Center, currently has River Valleys Brooklyn Center Service Center)
- Girl Scout Council of River Trails (based in Rochester, currently has River Valley’s Edith Mayo Program Center)
- Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley (based in St. Paul, currently the headquarters of River Valley)
- Girl Scouts Peacepipe Council (based in Redwood Falls, zip code 56283 now in River Valley’s jurisdiction per GSUSA’s Council Finder)
