Remixed Camp Songs

What happens when you combine classic campfire lyrics with today’s tech tools and music trends? A remix revolution! This is a brilliant way to breathe new life into beloved camp classics. That’s the idea behind The Badge Archive’s Remixed Camp Songs — a new initiative created for troop and camp leaders looking to give teens ownership over their favorite sing-alongs.

Classic camp songs are timeless, but sometimes teens crave a fresh approach. The Remixed Camp Songs project offers a way to preserve the lyrics and heart of these beloved tunes, while challenging youth to reinterpret them through a modern lens.

Whether you lead a troop of middle or high schoolers, giving teens the chance to remix a song taps into creativity, pop culture awareness, and even digital literacy.

🎧 The Four Demo Remixes

To get leaders inspired, The Badge Archive created four example remixes using free A.I. tools like Riffusion and Canva:

The Badge Archive’s song pages has lyrics and traditional versions, for leaders who want to learn and teach the original.

🛠️ How to Lead a Remix Activity

Invite your teens to pick a traditional camp song and remix it in a style of their choosing—rap, lo-fi, metal, jazz… the sillier the better. Whether the goal is performance, digital storytelling, or just belly laughs, this is an activity that encourages ownership, creative risk-taking, and genuine joy.

Remember, when using a free A.I. music generation software, you can download the song, but cannot use it for commercial purposes. There are many free tools to use online, such as:

If they wish to take it a step farther to make their own music video, there are easy to use programs available for that too! This is a perfect activity for the Cadette Digital Movie Maker badge.

  • Canva – A free online program to create videos.
  • Open Shot – A Downloadable free program for video editing

💡 Bonus Ideas

  • Use remixed songs to open or close troop meetings
  • Make them part of a badge workshop (Performing Arts, Digital Leadership, or Junior Musician)
  • Host a Remix Battle Night where each patrol performs their version
