Spotlight – Women Helpers – Jen Wall

In our third installment of the summer Spotlight Series, we’re featuring Jen Wall—an innovator who turned virtual learning into a thriving scouting program.

When the pandemic threatened to disrupt scouting activities, Jen Wall and her Girl Scouts found a way to adapt. Rather than shutting down, they launched Zoom with an Expert, a virtual workshop series that kept scouts engaged and learning. What started as a temporary solution quickly evolved into a thriving online program, expanding to include interactive experiences and custom fun patches through Fun PatchPrograms & Scouting Adventures. Today, Jen continues to create opportunities for scouts to learn, grow, and connect—proving that innovation can keep scouting alive, no matter the circumstances.

From Pandemic Challenges to a Thriving Online Program

When the world shut down in 2020, many Girl Scout troops struggled to keep their programs alive. But Jen Wall and her scouts refused to let circumstances stop them. Determined to continue learning, growing, and earning badges, they launched Zoom with an Expert, a free series of virtual workshops designed to keep scouts engaged during uncertain times.

What started as a temporary solution quickly evolved into a full-fledged online programming effort, offering educational opportunities and interactive experiences for Girl Scouts everywhere. Over time, Jen expanded her offerings to include badge and journey events, and custom fun patch opportunities, creating a tangible way for scouts to commemorate their learning and achievements. Through this venture, she has combined her passion for scouting with her creativity, offering a unique experience for those looking for engaging, meaningful ways to inspire their scouts.

Building a Virtual Scouting Community

Jen’s programs and patch offerings have found a home on Facebook through a wide variety of groups. There are different levels for Think Tank and Journeys, Badges & Awards groups and a handful of additional ones. These platforms have become hubs for collaboration, sharing resources, and supporting leaders in activities, creating enriching experiences for their scouts.

The community surrounding Jen Wall and her scouting groups continues to grow. She primarily operates through Facebook and Instagram, with PayPal used for Fun Patch purchases and Cheddar Up for event registrations. Followers appreciate the accessibility of her patches and the thoughtful programs tied to them, making scouting more interactive in a digital space.

Jen explains, “these programs appeal to scouts who have sporting conflicts, custodial issues, autoimmune struggles, troops located in rural areas, and scouts who want more programming than their troop or service unit offers. All of the live events are recorded which allows scouts who are not available during that period to complete the programming on their own time.”

Honoring Innovation in Scouting

Jen’s journey from Zoom workshops to a full-scale program, designed to be accessible to girls of all service units, councils, and countries, is an inspiring example of how innovation can keep the spirit of scouting alive, even in uncertain times. Leaders and scouts alike continue to benefit from her creativity and dedication to empowering young learners.

As Fun PatchPrograms & Scouting Adventures continue to expand, its impact on scouting remains undeniable. Whether it’s through custom patches, virtual programming, or simply fostering connections among leaders, Jen Wall is proving that scouting isn’t confined to in-person meetings—it’s a movement that can thrive anywhere.
