Spotlight – Women Helpers – Carriebeth Habegger

Continuing our summer Spotlight Series, we’re shining a light on another incredible woman making a difference in scouting: Carriebeth Habegger, founder of Girls Love Scouting!

What started as a simple idea—creating troop shirts that scouts would actually love to wear—soon grew into something much bigger. When Carriebeth Habegger founded Girls Love Scouting, she wasn’t just designing fun shirts; she was building a resource for scouting leaders and troops looking for high-quality patches, custom designs, and affordable heat transfers. Today, her family-run business continues to support the scouting community with products that make celebrating achievements easier and more accessible.

Spotlight: Girls Love Scouting – A Family Business Built on Creativity and Community

From Troop Leader to Entrepreneur

For Carriebeth Habegger, scouting isn’t just an activity—it’s a way of life. As a mom of eight, a dedicated troop leader, and a creative entrepreneur, she knows firsthand how small details can make a big impact. What started as a personal mission to design fun, unique troop shirts grew into Girls Love Scouting, a business dedicated to affordable scouting-themed shirts, heat transfers, and high-quality fun patches that help troops bring their ideas to life.

A Passion for Scouting, Turned into a Business

Carriebeth’s journey began in 2016 when she struggled to find troop shirts that were both affordable and appealing to her scouts. Determined to create something better, she learned the craft herself—designing shirts that scouts were excited to wear. What started as a small project for her troop quickly expanded as other leaders wanted shirts for their own troops.

By 2018, her business was officially established. And in 2022, her family business took another big leap forward—buying out Rae’s Creations and expanding their product lineup to include high-quality fun patches that quickly became favorites in the scouting community. They re-named their business Girls Love Scouting.

Fun Patches That Tell a Story

One of the standout features of Girls Love Scouting has been its creative fun patches, known for their unique themes and exceptional quality. While earlier designs mimicked official badge shapes to cover topics not offered by GSUSA, legal concerns led to a shift in focus—now offering distinctive scouting-themed fun patches that continue to be widely recognized and loved.

Beyond patches, another key offering from Girls Love Scouting is affordable heat transfers for troop shirts—a game-changer for leaders looking to create custom shirts without specialized printing equipment. By offering both ready-made shirts and DIY transfers, the business supports leaders who want a simple, budget-friendly way to outfit their scouts with meaningful designs.

A Business Built on Family and Community

Carriebeth and her family work together to bring Girls Love Scouting to life, ensuring that every product is handmade, packaged, and shipped with care. Their commitment to scouting goes beyond selling products—it’s about creating resources that make leaders’ lives easier and giving troops affordable, high-quality options for their activities.

With three major sales each year—Spring (April), Fall (September), and Black Friday / Cyber Monday (November)—leaders looking for scouting-themed gear can always find great deals and fresh designs to bring a little extra magic to their troops.

Navigating Change & Growing a Legacy

Recently, Girls Love Scouting faced a shift. Due to new legal guidance, Carriebeth’s business could no longer produce badges in the shape of GSUSA official badges. Instead of letting this obstacle halt their mission, Carriebeth and her team adapted and created new opportunities for scouting leaders and other organizations alike.

  • Final Badge Sale: As part of the transition, all remaining inventory of older badge designs was deeply discounted, giving troops one last chance to grab them before they are retired.
  • Legacy Patches Remain: While badge designs are shifting, legacy patches aren’t going anywhere. The artwork is simply being revised to remove certain markings before returning to the shop.

Introducing Achievement Seekers: Life Happens, Badges Help

To fill the gap left by badge design changes, Carriebeth launched a new business: Achievement Seekers. Unlike Girls Love Scouting, which remains scouting-focused, Achievement Seekers is open to everyone, offering achievement badges, products, and resources that extend beyond scouting.

  • A Fresh Start: With new badge shapes designed specifically to distinguish them from scouting-exclusive products, Achievement Seekers will provide fun, meaningful ways to recognize accomplishments in all areas of life.
  • Beyond Scouting: While some products may appeal to scouting groups, the focus is broader, allowing schools, organizations, and individuals to celebrate their milestones, skills, and achievements in new ways.

Continuing the Mission

Despite these shifts, Girls Love Scouting will remain a resource for scout leaders looking for fun patches, apparel, and creative meeting tools. Carriebeth’s family-run business continues to prioritize quality, affordability, and accessibility—ensuring leaders can provide memorable experiences for their troops without breaking the budget.

Through Girls Love Scouting and the future Achievement Seekers, Carriebeth is proving that change isn’t an obstacle, it’s an opportunity. As she and her team navigate this new chapter, one thing remains the same: her dedication to scouting, creativity, and helping leaders bring their ideas to life.
