There’s been a lot of questions about how to earn GSUSA 2025 World Thinking Day. We’ve done our best to summarize the steps and gave a simple outline for troops to follow.
Scout K went one step farther. Her idea? An escape room!
Edit to add – Our scouts side project of Girlguiding UK 50 States Pen Pal Project just launched too!
The centerpiece of the room – a timeline wall has just been finished! The full escape room is scheduled to be available on World Thinking Day – February 22.
We’re working as fast as we can here. It takes time to make a quality room with fun printouts for every step and clue. We ran a demo of it for our own fun, but are working hard to make it possible anyone to just print and go with it.
This will be a purchased downloadable file for a full escape room, designed for 6-12 scouts at a time. You can print and set it up with minimal extra supplies.
- Space needed should be one corner of the room and one table, with enough room for 6-12 scouts to move around in and inspect things. Larger troops could set up multiple ‘rooms’ in a large space, each group using a different corner.
- You’ll definitely need some tape. That timeline has to be put on the wall somehow! It’s an awesome 2 page tall and 6 page wide timeline of events from 1907-2025. There are a few other printouts we recommend adding to the walls. (The time line could be kept for future badges, like Girl Scout Way.)
- Some envelopes. An optional printout you can fold and tape close to make your own will be available when envelopes are recommended.
- A book. You’ll want a nice big book to hide some printed half sheet pages in. The scouts unlock one stage to get the book and will need to look through it to find them. Any book, regardless of topic, that can hide 8 half sheets of paper in will work. But if you have a good history book or World Geography – it can fit the theme!
- A box. Most boxes will work. Shoeboxes are excellent. It’s a pretend mailbox, but you’ll still have the option to just tape two optional printouts together to make your own.
The goal is to make it as easy to set up as possible while still keeping it ultra fun.
As of 02/22/2025 – The WTD 2025 D/B/J Escape Room is now available!

This escape room is designed to fulfill all Daisy, Brownie, and Junior level 2025 GSUSA World Thinking Day requirements.
If a Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador troop wanted to use the escape room as a way to help a Daisy, Brownie, and Junior level troop earn their badge – it would fulfill all of their requirements except Step 3. C/S/A troops have a few options to meet that final requirement – See C/S/A 2025 WTD Outline.
This escape room focuses on the WAGGGS country, United Kingdom. Learn the history of Girlguiding UK, Pax Lodge, WAGGGS, World Thinking Day and GSUSA in the timeline. During the escape, you’ll compare Girlguiding UK to GSUSA levels and badges. It includes an interview article with a Girlguiding UK leader. There’s even a letter template for corresponding with a UK troop to share what you’ve learned. You’ll have to fill it out to get out of the room! After you’ve escaped, you can send the letter directly or have The Badge Archive forward it to their UK contacts.
