November 15th
Page 9!
We’ve reached the half way mark in our National Novel Writing Month of November and we’re almost halfway through our 20 pages too. Make sure you aren’t going into writer’s burn out as we go into the second half. Here’s a NaNoWriMo provided video about avoiding burnout.
The video focuses on these six tips:
- Use shorter writing sessions – if you normally do 30 minutes, break it up into two different 15 minute sessions.
- Don’t feel guilty – if you aren’t hitting your number goals, focus on writing consistently, not worrying about speed writing just to hit a number.
- Focus on creativity – make sure your environment is fitting your writing style.
- Reward system – think of a small way to reward yourself each day just for writing, and maybe a different reward for when you hit your mile stones.
- Don’t start on a blank page – Write at least one sentence to prompt you when you plan to write the next day.
- Don’t bottle it up – Tell people what you are doing and get recognition for taking on the challenge.
Finish!
We’ve done page 9. On to Day 16.

We had a bunch of Halloween candy – it’s our reward. One piece when we finish our daily writing session.
