2024 Novelist NaNoWriMo – Day 5

November 5th

Have you thought of at least one person you think will support you as you take on this challenge?

Tell them about the challenge.

  • What is your story?
  • When will your write?
  • Would they be willing to read what you wrote when you are done? (Remind them it’s only suppose to be 20 pages)

It’s the same for fiction or non-fiction writers. You just need to tell one person about the challenge and see if they’ll support you. Three days after you finish your 20 pages, the ultimate goal is to have three different people read your story. See if this person will be the first one you can count on to help with that. Then even if you don’t find two more, it’ll be okay. You’ll still have one person you trust to give you feedback.

Finish!

Told someone? You’re done!

Go to Day 6. (It will be Goals. Be prepared to decide what you’ll start writing and have two back ups if you manage to write all of your first goal and need to move on to the next. Sometimes it will surprise you just how much you’ll be able to write.)

Want an Example?

We told a family member. We’re already writing a lot by managing The Badge Archive and the latest updates we have planned, so they think we’re a little crazy, but The Badge Archive is a group effort, so it’s manageable. Our story might be more like a progressive story, but it’ll work out.

Go back to Day 4?
