WARNING
This is a GSUSA centered challenge. That means we follow the Girl Scout Promise and Law as well as the Internet Safety Pledge. All novels will need to be family friendly. Want to do romance? Keep it PG. Want to do action? If someone gets their arm cut off, don’t go into the gory details. What about horror? Sure – but it has to stick to campfire ghost story level.
Rule of thumb: If you can’t tell it to a bunch of elementary kids without traumatizing them – feel free to write it on your own time, but not in this challenge.

November 1st
If you have an idea you want to write already – you’re done for the day!
Not sure or have no clue? Not a problem.
NaNoWriMo’s official site already has us covered. There are two plot generators you can use.
Interesting and sometimes hilarious ideas.
Play with the generators and figure out what the plot is you want to write.
Non-Fiction is Okay!
Remember, it doesn’t have to be fantasy.
- Have a non-fiction topic you love and know a lot about? Think it’ll fill 20 pages? Do it!
- Know a skill you could write a How-To for others? Will it be enough for 20 pages? Go for it!
- Want to make a collection of something you do? Recipes, Patterns, Rock Collection with scientific descriptions… The list could go on. Got 20 pages worth? Is it your own creation? Try it!
Finish!
Once you have your idea – you’ve finish for the day.
Go on to Day 2. (It will be character creation, so have ideas running in your head until we can get them down on paper.)
Want an Example?
Our Idea Generator gave us: “Your fantasy world is mostly covered in the desert. The story involves a war between the gods. Someone is leaving for good. The story includes a dragon. The story also includes a mirror of truth.”
We hit each button several times until we got something we felt was doable. We’ll go with this! Hmm… looks like we’ll be joining you in this challenge then.
