2011 – Brownie Create and Innovate – Two Idea Sketch

Pick a Problem

  • Dog being afraid to walk on a slippery floor
  • The bus not having air conditioning
  • Having to carry reusable water bottles on hikes
  • Make up your own!

Brainstorm

Come up with a few ideas on how to make the problem better. Brainstorm possible solutions aloud, including big, small, and wild ideas for what they could create. Have one leader write them down as they come up with them.

i.e. The Dog problem could be solved with “making a floor with texture, little boots for the dog, rugs for the dog to walk on, special grippers for toenails, etc.”

Improve It

Pick two ideas and point out a problem.

i.e. “”maybe the floor needs more or less texture, maybe the rugs slip or the dog doesn’t like them, or maybe the booties slip off”

Ask scouts how they can improve the ideas.

Sketch It

Scouts sketch a prototype of two of their favorite solutions and share what they came up with.
