Ways to Sell Cookies

Participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program powers scouts’ adventures throughout the year. It’s not just about selling cookies—it’s about learning key business skills that will help them excel in future careers and in life. Through different sales methods, scouts develop essential skills, including:

  • Goal Setting
  • Decision Making
  • Money Management
  • People Skills
  • Business Ethics

Parents are encouraged to let scouts take the lead while providing support and guidance along the way. Don’t forget: adult supervision is required at all times.

Get Ready for Cookie Boss Moves!
This year, your scout will make big moves by exploring various sales methods. Review the options together and let them choose how they want to manage their cookie business. Encourage them to think creatively and take ownership of their sales approach.

Think of who you might sell cookies to and how you will sell them.

Ways to Sell Cookies:

  1. Phone or Text Friends and Family:
    • Perfect for beginners, this method helps scouts gain confidence by connecting with people they already know.
    • For busy scouts, texting or calling offers maximum flexibility and convenience.
  2. Digital Cookie:
    • Scouts can use the Digital Cookie® platform to:
      • Ship cookies directly to customers.
      • Accept donations for cookie charity programs.
      • Arrange local deliveries.
    • This option teaches digital marketing skills while fitting any schedule.
  3. Door-to-Door:
    • Scouts sell locally, honing their sales pitch while connecting with neighbors.
    • For customers who aren’t home, scouts can leave door hangers or business cards. This method enhances people skills and fosters community connections.
  4. Cookie Stands:
    • Similar to lemonade stands, cookie stands are set up on private property, such as a residence.
    • This option is great for scouts who feel more comfortable in their own space, providing a low-pressure way to engage with the community.
  5. Cookie Booths:
    • Troops or small groups work together at preapproved locations like grocery stores or malls, interacting with customers in real-time.
    • This option emphasizes teamwork and customer interaction. Note: Booths must be coordinated by troop cookie managers and held at council-approved, safe, and accessible locations.
  6. Connecting with the Community:
    • Scouts can partner with parents or caregivers to sell cookies at places of worship, workplaces, or community events.
    • For a larger challenge, scouts can pitch bulk orders to businesses like car dealerships, real estate agents, or financial institutions to secure big sales.

Creative Marketing Station:

Let scouts decide how to market their cookie sale! Encourage them to brainstorm:

  • Do they think booth posters will help them reach their goals?
  • Or, if age-appropriate, would a fun online sales video work best?

Provide tools and materials to support their marketing efforts. Examples include:

  • For Posters: Construction paper, markers, glue sticks, and other craft supplies.
  • For Virtual Sales: Photo props to create engaging pictures and videos.

This station is their opportunity to personalize their cookie sale and make it as creative as they want. The possibilities are endless!
