Daisy Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin
Learn to talk to customers. Ask a family member to pretend to be a customer. Many customers would like to learn about your cookie goal and what your troop might do with the money.
“Navigate “no.” Some people won’t want to buy cookies, and that’s OK. Help your Girl Scout think of what to say to people who say no—business people don’t always make the sale!”
Daisy My First Cookie Business
“Make finger puppets of a cookie customer and seller. Then make a mini cookie booth… Make your pitch to your friend.”
OR
“Create a video of you and your friends. Show the different cookies and what they cost. Make sure to tell your customers how they can buy cookies from you.”
GSUSA 2024 Daisy Cookie Season Workbook
Learn to talk to customers. Have a grown up pretend to be your customer and
practice selling cookies to them. See some things you might need to practice
below. Before talking with new people, talk with a trusted adult about what
information is safe to share and what is best kept private.
- How would you greet your customer? Try “Hello” or “Good morning/afternoon”
- Practice asking someone to buy Girl Scout cookies.
- What would you say to a person that does not want to buy cookies?
- Have a grown up ask you questions about the cookies, cost, and your goals so you can practice answering confidently.
- Practice saying the names of all the cookies you are selling and try to remember one thing about their flavor.
- What do you say after every sale?
Have Girls Scouts take turns as the customer and as the seller. Let adult and teen volunteers take turns as well and present challenging situations to younger Girl Scouts. Bring props to use as cookie boxes if you don’t have any cookie boxes around and some fake money.
Girl Scouts can review the most important details to tell your audience, read through the script verbatim or use the text as a jumping off point to craft their own speech for selling! This exercise encourages girls to embrace their business, so your troop can have its best sales season yet! (Printable on Pg. 22)
