These patches are worn on the back of the uniform and can be earned by scouts of any level. The center patch features a “zombie” that matches the uniform color of the scout’s level at the time they earn it.
Surrounding the center patch are nine additional patches called “rockers.” Each rocker represents a specific achievement and has its own unique steps to earn.
The complete patch set is available for purchase through the Girl Scout Shop.

In 2020, The Badge Archive developed an online, at-home step course to help scouts earn the center patch and eight of the rockers. The course includes a reading portion and an activity required for each step. The number of steps a scout completes depends on their level.

We designed these steps to be accessible for independent learning and easy to complete online. The research and learning portions are structured so you can work through them at your own pace. Feel free to try them out and share your feedback. We’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions for improvement on the contact us page.
For the most up-to-date instructions, check out the GSWW PDF, which was last updated in October 2021. This version wasn’t available when The Badge Archive created its online steps.
Our steps were initially adapted from GSCCS instructions, but we later discovered that this patch series likely originated with GSWW, which had similar requirements in 2019. Since then, GSWW has expanded its resources and now provides an entire webpage dedicated to these patches. They even introduced a COVID-19 rocker, ensuring scouts can earn recognition for preparedness during future global health crises.
