Find out how to advocate for change by networking, planning, and speaking up for what you believe—invite a woman advocate to speak about her work or visit your state capital to find out how to advocate for causes you believe in.
Eight steps are needed to complete this badge:
- Find Your Cause – Investigate issues you care about. Choose one that touches your heart and soul.
- Tune In – Do some research. Zoom in on a specific angel and possible solutions.
- Harmonize – Form alliances with those who care about your issue and can assist you to give voice to solutions.
- Identify the big ears and set up a meeting – Join with your partners to identify VIPs who will listen to you and have the influence to lift your cause.
- Prepare Your Pitch – Define your issue in a brief and compelling way, and propose a workable solution.
- Make Your Pitch – Make your pitch to the VIPs
- Close the Loop an Give Thanks – Now that you’ve done some great advocacy, acknowledge those you’ve met along the way and pass your efforts forward.
- Reflect, Celebrate – Make sure you take time to reflect on your advocacy journey – all the bumps, valleys, high points, twits, and turns.
