Understand how public policy is created and influenced, and how it impacts communities.

Our Summary* of requirements:
- Explore public policy and learn from change-makers (interview activist, watch documentary, OR read about women activist).
- Learn how public-policy successes and challenges abroad can inform approaches to issues at home (compare laws with three other countries, track a public-policy issue in another country, OR investigate an international NGO like CARE or Doctors Without Borders).
- Explore how national or state public policy issues are influenced by citizens, policy-makers, and the media (track an issue for 2 weeks with 3 sources, speak with an interest group advocating your issue, OR compare three states approach on your issue).
- Learn how policy is created at the local level and discover who makes decisions and influences them (compare two public officials/committee leaders, visit local legislator’s office, interview a staff member from the legislator’s offices) OR Attend a meeting (community organization, school board, or student council) to watch local decision-making in action.
- Explore how public policy is shaped by going behind the scenes with community or state policy-makers with one activity (shadow a policy-maker, OR attend a policy debate) OR volunteer for first-hand experience (chamber of commerce, community organization, OR government office).
