2011 – Practice with Purpose – At Home Overview

The Badge Archive’s At Home Overview gives one way for an independent scout to earn the badge on their own without a troop.

Step 1 – Pick a goal to train for AND speak to a professional (coach, trainer, OR physical education/gym teacher) about how to reach that goal.

Follow the Solo Scout Coach Goal Setting activity.

Step 2 – Choose one way (run, dance, OR fitness routine) to increase endurance AND make a plan to follow for the next month. It’s not required, but recommended, to time yourself now and at the end of the month.

Find and follow a Safe Workout Video.

Step 3 – Get help from a professional (older athlete, coach, trainer, OR instruction video an adult help’s pick out) to learn 3 strength exercises to do for the next month.

Find and follow a Strength Training Videos.

Step 4 – Pick a skill to train for AND check (coach, gym teacher, older athlete, book/online instructions) for a trusted drill to do for the next month to improve your skill.

Do the Skill Drill Search and Practice activity.

Step 5 – Make and follow a month long plan that does all three activities (endurance, strength, AND skill drill) at least twice a week AND review (discuss with professional, write top 10 tip list, OR make a short video/slideshow for younger scouts) at the end of the month.

Follow the Solo Practice Plan Review.
