Practice watching what you say

Activities

  • Wrinkled Heart activity
  • Toothpaste Plate activity
  • Kind Words
  • Compliment Cards
  • Compli-Mats
  • Take 10 pieces of paper and write “I love you”, “I don’t want to be your friend”, “You’re dumb”, “Can I help you?” “That’s stupid.”, “You’re a good friend”, “You can’t play with us”, “Great job.”, “I hate you”, “I like your shirt” on each paper piece. Put them all in a hat and draw one out at a time. Scouts jump in the air if the words make you feel good. Crouch down on the ground if they make you feel bad.

  • Decorate tote bags for scouts to bring their personal supplies to and from meetings

Practice being responsible in your community 

Activities

  • Plant a marigold seed for girls to take care of as it grows
  • Plant vegetable seeds in a pot and research what it needs to grow. The scout is responsible for it.
  • 911 Call Practice

Service

  • Clean up your meeting place or find a way to make your meeting place better
  • Take a walk and clean up the trash as you find it.

Crafts

  • Make two matching Friendship Bracelets. One to keep and one to give to someone as a pledge to be a responsible friend.
  • Make thank you cards to anyone who had helped the troop during the year.

Field Trips

Make sure all requirements are met when going or have a pre-field trip meeting to hit the requirements.

  • Field trip anywhere – follow the behavior guidelines the troop sets before going while at the field trip location and being responsible for the consequences if they do not.
  • Go to a children’s play. Learn and practice theatre etiquette.
  • Get a library cards. Use them and remember to bring back your books to the library – on time!

Guest Speakers

Make sure all requirements are met when there are there or have a meeting before or after the guest speaker to hit the requirements.
