Step 1 – Find examples of courage and strength
Find an example of courage (character from book/movie/show, OR a woman in the community/world).
RECOMMENDED: Game: Bravery Ball
All Activities:
- Bravery Prompts
- Learn about Malala Yousafzai ((Similar to VTK/Handbook Suggestion))
- Learn about JGL and use the Juliette Gordon Low Trivia Questions
- Craft: Courageous Scene ((Similar to VTK/Handbook Suggestion))
- Game: Bravery Ball – Youths take turns sharing brave moments while passing a soft object around the circle.
- Storytime: Read or Watch a Courage Story
Step 2 – Honor courageous and strong people
Honor courageous and strong people (make medal OR thank you card).
RECOMMENDED: Craft: Make a Medal of Honor
All Activities:
- GSEMA JGL Birthday Booklet
- Craft: Heartfelt Greeting Card – Thank You cards to send to overseas troops serving our country OR Courage Cards ((Similar to VTK/Handbook Suggestion))
- Craft: Make a Medal of Honor ((Similar to VTK/Handbook Suggestion))
Step 3 – Practice being courageous and strong
Practice being courageous and strong (try a new outdoor activity, OR learn what to do when they see bullying).
RECOMMENDED: Superhero Fly
All Activities:
- Flashlight Egg Hunt
- Scout-Led Obstacle Course
- Superhero Fly
- What Would You Do? ((Similar to VTK/Handbook Suggestion))
Other Suggestions
- Talk about Fire Prevention. Plan and Participate in a Fire Drill.
- FEMA Family Communication Plan
- Try something new:
- A new outdoor activity ((Similar to VTK/Handbook Suggestion))
- A new sport or game
- Anything to step outside your comfort zone
- New group activity – Caroling or Archery
- Try at least three new repeat and answer songs
- New food taste test (Try at least two new foods)
- Do a Jellybean taste test challenge.
- Mystery Box
- Take turns teaching their Girl Scout sisters something new such as how to do a cartwheel or a special handclap or song.
- Think of a song, poem, quote, or pledge that helps you feel courageous and strong and sing/recite it every morning for a week.
- Work a cookie booth. Taking to new people is a big step!

Field Trips
Make sure all requirements are met when going or have a pre-field trip meeting to hit the requirements.
- Fireman or Policeman
- Karate Instructor
Guest Speakers
Make sure all requirements are met when there are there or have a meeting before or after the guest speaker to hit the requirements.
- Visit a fire or police station. Ask a firefighter or police officer to talk with your group about being courageous and strong.
- Visit a karate class.
