Meeting One Outline
Gathering Activity
Gathering Activities (sometimes called Sponge Activities) are low-prep, engaging tasks given to youth immediately upon arrival.
Time Expected*:
10 minutes
OPTION A:
Cookie Booth Menu – Youths create a menu for customers to use at a cookie booth, listing cookie flavors and package costs.
OPTION B:
Team Name Poem – Youths work in teams to create words from each letter in a word that describe their group.
Meeting Start
Always plan for 5-10 minutes to allow scouts to arrive and your troop’s opening routines.

OPTION A:
Cookie Flashcards – Youth make flash cards to learn cookie names, descriptions, and prices.
OPTION B:
Cookie Trivia – Youth play a trivia game to learn cookie facts.
OPTION C:
Cookie Notebook – Youth make a notebook to learn and share cookie names, flavors, and prices.
Activity 2 – Step 2

35 minutes
OPTION A:
Cookie Goal Cheer – Youth vote on a cookie goal and create cheers to celebrate cookie sales and troop goals.
OPTION B:
Stick Goal Tracker – Youth make a personal goals stick to track cookie sales progress.
OPTION C:
Target Ring Group Goal Tracker – Youths create and decorate a troop goal tracker with the rings of a target to show progress toward their cookie package goal.

Draw and List Customers – Youth draw a picture and make a customer list to plan who they can talk to about buying cookies.
OPTION C:
Community Map for Customers – Youths use a sample community map to learn where cookie sales are allowed or not allowed.
Activity 4 – Step 4

Time Expected*:
30 minutes
OPTION A:
Cookie Calculator – Youths decorate a paper calculator, then practice selling cookies and making change using calculators for help.
OPTION B:
Practice Cookie Booth – Youths practice setting up a booth, handling money, and making change at the pretend cookie booth.
OPTION C:
Practice Online Sales – Youths explore the online cookie buying experience and practice making change with play money.
Activity 5 – Step 5

20 minutes
OPTION A:
Pitch Pointers – Youths practice connecting with customers by creating and sharing their cookie pitch.
OPTION B:
Simple Video – Youths practice and record a video sales pitch about Girl Scout Cookies.
OPTION C:
Thank You Cards – Youths create thank you cards or stickers for delivery cookie sales.
