Basic Meeting Plans are designed to have minimal supplies and still hit the GSUSA Requirements. Most meetings can be done in a 90 minute time frame.
Note – Daisy can earn the 3 Cheers Birdbath Award (Learn about yourself and how to take care of yourself) if they follow this plan. Daisy troops still need to do more to earn the other 2 parts of the 3 Cheers Journey).
Items Needed:
- Printout of All About Me Sheet for each scout.
- Pen/Pencil for each scout.
- Printout (and possibly pre-cut) of Positive Affirmation Cards for each scout.

- A bag or box (could simply be a clear plastic sandwich bag) for each scout.
First Aider

All About Me
Activity Needed: Fill out the All About Me Sheet. Suggestions:
- What Makes You Feel Happy: Spending time with friends and family, playing games, or doing something you love can make you feel happy.
- What Makes You Feel Hungry: When your body needs food, you feel hungry. This can happen if you haven’t eaten in a while or if you see or smell delicious food.
- What Makes You Feel Tired: Doing a lot of activities, not getting enough sleep, or working hard can make you feel tired.
- What Makes You Feel Nervous: Trying something new, speaking in front of a group, or facing a challenge can make you feel nervous.
- What Makes You Feel Sad: Missing someone, losing something important, or having a bad day can make you feel sad.
- What Makes You Feel Angry: When something unfair happens, or if someone is mean to you, it can make you feel angry.
- What Makes You Feel Thirsty: When your body needs water, you feel thirsty. This can happen if you haven’t had a drink in a while or if it’s hot outside.

Healthy Fact
Info Needed: Pick one of the topics below to learn.
- Why Tummies Might Hurt: Sometimes, tummies hurt because we ate too much or ate something that didn’t agree with us. Other times, it might be because we need to go to the bathroom, or we have a tummy bug. Resting, drinking water, and eating healthy foods can help our tummies feel better.
- Why Temperatures Are High or Low: Our body temperature can change for different reasons. When we have a fever, our body is fighting off germs, so our temperature goes up. When we’re cold, our body tries to keep us warm by shivering. Wearing the right clothes and staying hydrated helps our body stay at a healthy temperature.
- How the Body Makes Its Own Bandages: When we get a cut, our body works to heal it. Blood cells called platelets come to the cut and stick together to form a clot. This clot is like a natural bandage that stops the bleeding. Then, the skin starts to grow back and cover the cut, making it all better.

Happy Boxes
Info Needed: Ask about favorite activities. If they enjoy what they’re doing, it’s a good sign they’re happy. Some activities bring more happiness than others. The next time you start to feel sad or upset – try doing one of your happy activities! Sometimes we don’t have time to do an activity. A Happy Box has little cards or sayings or memories that make you happy. When you are sad or upset, you can reach
in and pull one out. A positive thought or remembering happy memories can help us increase our happiness.
Action Needed: Cut out the Positive Affirmation Cards and talk about them as you cut them out and place them in a bag or box. OR If they are pre-cut, let scouts go through their set of cards and pick out their favorite and share why it’s their favorite.

Get Moving
Info Needed: Trying three types of exercises is a great way to stay healthy and have fun! Doing different exercises keeps things interesting and exciting. Different exercises work on different parts of your body. For example, running helps your heart and lungs, stretching makes you flexible, and lifting light weights makes your muscles strong. By doing a mix of exercises, you’ll stay fit all over. When you do the same exercise all the time, you might overuse certain muscles and get hurt. Mixing it up helps different muscles rest and recover, keeping you safe and healthy.
Action Needed: Try three different types of exercises. Recommended Jumping Jacks, Animal Walks, and a Relay Race
- Jumping Jacks: Stand with your feet together and arms at your sides. Jump up and spread your feet while raising your arms above your head. Jump again to return to the starting position.
- Animal Walks: Pretend to be different animals and move like them. For example, walk like a bear on all fours, hop like a frog, or waddle like a duck. – 15 Types of Animal Walks
- Relay Race: Set up a course with cones or markers OR just designated a starting line on one side of the room and an object to reach and run around on the other side of the room. Divide the kids into teams and have them race to complete the course, passing a baton to the next teammate.

Meeting End
Scouts can keep playing movement games and exercise ideas until it’s time to go home.
General Notes
Note to Leaders – No Basic Plan compiled by The Badge Archive will earn multiple badges in one level. Part of being budget friendly is not costing more than the price of one official GSUSA badge per meeting.
Some badges will take two meetings to finish. This helps scouts enjoy activities and keeps the troop budget in mind by only needing one GSUSA badge for every two meetings. Troops may choose to get a fun patch for one of the meetings if scouts want a badge/patch for every meeting. Scouts can earn the fun patch if they only attend one meeting and get a fun patch and the official badge if they go to both.
